VINPAK, Inc., base in American Canyon, California, provides storage, packaging and delivery services for winery customers and club members. Their services include bottle and case labeling, case re-packing, label removal, multi-pack, shrink wrapping, wooden box repacking, over-labeling, and promotional gift box assembly in their 250,000 square-foot facility designed specifically for wine storage.
In May 2010 VINPAK acquired a new customer who had an internal strategic requirement that their custom packaging solution must be sustainable and environmentally “green”. The VINPAK project opportunity required us to create a sustainable 6-bottle lay down shipper for the upcoming 2010 spring / summer wine release.
Our La Palma, California Design Center developed a new sustainable packaging concept and created the associated artwork and graphics for the project. The Design Center played a consultative role in delivering creative solutions that enhanced the overall image and brand of VINPAK’s customer. The final corrugated shipper packaging was sourced through a local California supplier who used low volatile organic compound (VOC) inks and maintained a high recycled material content in their paper in order to satisfy the customer’s sustainability requirements.
The new 6-bottle lay down shipper provided an improved presentation of the wine itself and more robust and protective packaging to reduce product damage during shipping. The new packaging also satisfied the sustainability requirements of the customer for an environmentally friendly solution.
